THE STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM
BETWEEN
NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SINGAPORE
AND
CHINA UNIVERSITY OF POLITICAL SCIENCE AND LAW
I. Number of Exchange Students
Two(2) exchange students for SEMESTER 2 ,AY 2011/2012 (JAN 2012 – MAY 2012) are able to apply for both
1. TF LEaRN Programme and
2. NUS Student Exchange Programme concurrently.
II. Selection of Participants
Participation in the Student Exchange Program (hereinafter refer to Program) is only limited to LL.B students.
III. Qualifications
A. For exchange programme
1.All candidates must have completed at least one year of law studies at CUPL prior to participation in the Program and have strong academic standing.
2. All candidates must be proficient in English language in order to benefit from their studies at NUS, as the medium of instruction in NUS is English.
All candidates should submit the following test scores as evidence of their English language proficiency to Faculty of International Law (TOEFL/IELTS scores are only valid for 2 years from the test date):
a) The minimum scores for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) should be as follows:
(i) 600 for the paper-based test; or
(ii) 250 for the computer-based test; or
(iii) 100 for the internet-based test
b) The minimum score for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) should be 6.5.
These candidates may also be subject to a telephone interview made by the professors of NUS.
B. For TF LEaRN Programme
1. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
1. Be full-time undergraduate students from eligible partner universities who are nationals of the country they are coming from.
2. Have completed at least one year of study at their home university.
3. Have good academic performance record (equivalent to a NUS Cumulative Average Point (CAP) of 3.0 out of 5).
4. Be proficient in English as evidenced by TOEFL, if English is not the language of instruction at your university. (English is the language of instruction at NUS).
5. Be interested in community service as evidenced from participation in activities / projects, and have preferably served in leadership positions.
6. Be prepared to make the adjustments necessary to live in a different culture and at a different pace of life.
2. Award Requirements
1. Successful applicants will take a minimum of three and a maximum of four modules during their exchange semester at NUS.
2. Students must be graded on at least three modules, and must receive an overall Cumulative Average Point (CAP) of 3.0 and above.
3. Community Involvement:
a. Inbound students will be attached to a NUS Volunteer Network student group. They are each required to spend a minimum of 15 hours on at least 1 community involvement project.
4. Host Family Programme:
a. Inbound students will be matched to a host. They are strongly encouraged to meet their hosts to network, build relationships and familiarise themselves with local life in Singapore. Do note that there is no home-stay involved.
IV. Application
The Semester2(academic period from Aug to Dec) in 2011 of NUS will begin in January, so the candidates who wish to participate in the Program must submit all the application documents to the Faculty of International Law, CUPL before 1, September, 2011.
Please note: The applicants could download the application form from the website. Once your application is complete please forward it along with official certified copies of your academic transcripts including translations as well as English language proficiency (certified copies of the original test) to us. References could be submitted otherwise if needed. Make sure you have included all required documents before sending your application to the Faculty of International Law, CUPL so that we can process the applications promptly.
V. Fees and Expenses
1. No tuition fees will be charged by NUS. Each TF LEaRN Programme 2011 @ NUS Award is worth up to SGD $6,500.
The exchange students shall be responsible for meeting the following costs and expenses at NUS:
a) accommodations and meals;
b) international travel and travel in Singapore;
c) health insurance or services;
d) books and program materials;
e) equipment and consumables;
f) passport and visa costs; and
g) other incidental expenses arising out of the exchange.
2. Exchange Students will be required to provide evidence of sufficient funds for accommodation and other personal expenses during their stay at NUS.
